MISSION
The products we manufacture are not new or unusual. They are the basic structure of most of the homes built in America today. Therefore we must do all we can to make the items coming off our assembly lines the very best that the industry provides. And, if we are the best we should get a fair price for our expertise in Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing and Customer Service. With our dedication to excellence and the goal of satisfying all of our valued customers needs we will grow and prosper.

History
The original company got their start in 1939. The firm pre-fabricated two small homes in a lumber shed that winter and set the house in the next spring.
IN 1940, GBH-WAY HOMES was formally incorporated and immediately became instrumental in the formation of an association with 12 other companies for the development of the manufactured home industry.
When war restrictions called a halt to home construction the company directed their efforts toward production of needed war products. They delivered on government contracts for grain bins, shell boxes and other military equipment.
Then, when priorities for the construction of small farm buildings were issued, this became an important part of the firms operation. After the war they began to build a panelized and trussed roof system.
This system continued and prospered in to the 1970’s, but by this time the first generation had passed and some of the second generation wanted to retire.
With this dilemma and the need for more capital to expand the operation it was decided to sell. The principals of a large construction company bought the company in 1978 and Homeway Corporation was formed.
Homeway prospered, even through the down turn of ‘79 & ‘80 by adding track builders and large apartment developers to the customer list. All was going well for Homeway until one customer defaulted for a large amount.
On June 29, 1984, 26 employees of Homeway Corporation had combined their resources with friends and builder customers to form Walnut Custom Homes.
Walnut Custom Homes now operates under the guiding hand of Charles Gonigam, 3rd generation, along with Wally Bass, 2nd generation, as purchasing agent.
Walnut Custom Homes is now a Manufacturer of building components for the frame construction industry. Components are built for residential homes, tract builders, luxury residents, apartment buildings and commercial buildings.
